I'm glad you like Lombard!
As you probably know, Lombard is written in Vala. So if you want to
help out with the Lombard code you'll need to learn Vala. There are
some resources to get you started on the Vala web page at
http://live.gnome.org/Vala .
A good way to get started would be to work on some small bug or feature
that you care about. See the Lombard bug/feature list at
http://trac.yorba.org/report/18 . We don't have much developer
documentation today, but are happy to answer any questions you may have
