[Shotwell] event date format

I find the date format for the event list (left hand bar) confusing. When I
have many entries it is easier to scan them quickly if a simple date format
is used that lines up in neat columns. I tried changing the date_fmt entry
in my locales file to correct this (I am using Ubuntu 10.04) but it had no
effect, although the change was visible in Ubuntu.

Does Shotwell use the locales setting for the date format?
