[Shotwell] file .arw

Hi all,
 this is my first email to the mailing list, so sorry if it doesn't
respect the standard I will try to write better the next.
I have the Shotwell 0.5.90+trunk version.
I have a collection of .arw photo and, when I click on "open with an
external editor" it makes a jpg copy of the image and opens this copy
with gimp.
Shouldn't it open directly the raw file with the editor chosen from the dialog?
Should I open some bug-ticket?
