Hello Friends of Shotwell,
As those of you following Shotwell's development may know, Shotwell
0.6 is due out in the next few weeks. We're very excited about this
release. It introduces a bonanza of exciting new features, like basic
support for working with RAW images, the ability to zoom into and pan
over photos to reveal latent detail, and user interface improvements
that bring new levels of polish and usability to the Shotwell
experience.
A few weeks ago, we asked previous translators of Shotwell to submit
new and updated translations. The response was fantastic. That said,
we're still in need of translations for several major languages,
including Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, Portuguese, and Hindi. If you'd
like to see Shotwell available in one of these languages, we invite
you to submit or update a translation file.
To make your translation a part of the Shotwell 0.6 distribution,
please submit it as a PO file by Monday, June 21 at 9:00am Pacific
Daylight Time (UTC-7), either directly in reply to this email or on
our Transifex project page at
http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/shotwell/c/default/. For your
convenience, I have attached the new Shotwell 0.6 POT strings template
file to this message.
If you've never translated Shotwell before, the process is
straightforward with the right tools. Most Shotwell translators prefer
POEdit (http://www.poedit.net/), the GNOME translation tool, but some
choose LoKalize (http://userbase.kde.org/Lokalize) from the KDE
Project. Both tools are easy to use and make translation simple. If
you're creating a new translation, all you need to begin is the POT
file attached to this message. If you're updating an existing
translation, download the existing PO file for that language from our
Transifex page and start from there.
We thank you for your efforts. We hope you're as excited about
Shotwell 0.6 as we are, and we wish you all the best.
Best Regards,
Vera
