With apologies if Im hijacking the this thread (I am new to the list) , but
as its semi-related ...
1. This may already be covered by the planned boolean search, but I think it
may also be useful to have the option to search for photos that are untagged
and/or perhaps photos that are imported could be auto-assigned a tag (eg
current date) (esp perhaps if there is no EXIF data? eg
"No-EXIF-photos-imported-YYYY-MM-DD_at_HHMMSS").
2. Less of an issue(?) - "adding new tags where existing similar tags may
exist"
As the list of tags grows, I dont want to have to remember if I have the
tag "Family Holidays" or "Family holidays", or was it "family holidays" (or
even "family", "holidays" or "Holidays - family" etc).
Yes I know I could browse the long... list of tags and drag/drop photos to
existing tags, but there are other times I might want to quickly perform an
"Add Tag" op before checking if anything like it already exists. I think
it _may_ be useful if some sort of prompt was given advising of existing
similar tag(s) that are nearly the same and then to have the option to use
these tags as well as or (more likely) instead of or alternatively create a
new substantially different tag.
eg instead of adding a new tag "landscape" where an existing tag of
"Landscapes" exists, I should be warned/prompted.
3. Related to 2 above, perhaps the option to merge tags/photos could be
built into some form of "health status/repair tool" that also offers other
functionality (eg photo has gone away - do also you want to update
Shotwell).
In closing I would like to say that I really like Shotwell - its only
recently that I have started using it but I do like what I see. I would echo
Peter's earlier comment - the team deserve full marks - keep up the good
work.
