[Shotwell] Shotwell command line

I note from an earlier posting that Shotwell can invoke different
photo libraries by using the following command

shotwell -d ~/.library_name

This seems to me to be a very powerful option and I wonder if you
could not build this into the Shotwell gui, under, for example, the
File menu entry?
The facility to have different libraries of photos would be very valuable to me.

I also note that this is not described in the new documentation. I
think it should be included.

There does seem to be a bug though.
If I run
shotwell -d library_name
I get this error
** ERROR **: AppDirs.vala:39: Operation not supported
aborting...
Aborted

It seems I must enter
shotwell -d ~/library_name

which seems unnecessarily restrictive
